i'm 24 years old and i live in brazil.
i'm a 3rd gen born-in jw and all close relatives in the borg (parents, grandparents, uncles, wife, inlaws) except my little sister (she's 16 and didnt buy jw doctrine).

since finding the meetings too morally repugnant to attend (coupla months now) i have.
been reaquainting myself with the joys of sat morn's at home.. imagine my disappointment to find the group study overseer and his wife pulling up out front.

my first special pioneer assignment.- part 1.. in australia, western civilization is a thin strip of land, that hugs the coast.
all the major cities are on the coast.
i grew up on the east coast of australia where the great dividing range, as its called, runs parallel to the coast, and limits the extension of cities like sydney and brisbane.

I just love the frankness of Australians.
I used to have a good Aussy friend, but have lost touch with him since he went back home. Hope to come over there one day. Maybe I'll meet up with him again.
PS he's a never was JW, who helped me alot when I left the borg.

my wifes family has not really kept in contact with her after we left the cult.
i am the main reason but she never was a strong believer she just went with the flow as to not cause problems.
she has not heard much from her mother since the death of her brother 3 years ago.
my mother gave me a wt a while ago. I flicked through it but realised that it made me feel physically sick. Really!
What did your wife do with them?

notice how they repeatedly stress that the proceedings are not a trial or legal proceeding?
is this their way of putting out their position so that they have a legal defense against challenges of those disfellowshipped?
maybe protecting the corporation against over zealous elders. or " if theres a problem, your on your own."
but i plan to buy her a gift and a blank card in a week or two to show appreciation to her as wife and mother in substitution for valentine's day and mother's day.
Mrs P ( a Catholic) says she isn't bothered about special days, and usually I dont do anything.
But today, I decided to get a box of chocolates, specially made in a small family business.
As she will not be expecting anything, that WILL be special, and I will feel good too.

i have not been a sister for the past 19 years, i asked to be da'd as i had started smoking aged 12 and at 19 no longer wanted people to think badly of the jw's over my conduct.. for 19 years my father, an elder, has tried his damndest to bring me back.
he kept contact sometimes more, sometimes less, always under the threat to stop the contact alltogether.
at one point he managed to not speak to me for several months.
I find myself asking myself if I could EVER stop talking to my daughter because she smoked? completely unthinkable. Its scarey just what this religion can make people do

Been there too. My mother didnt speak to me for 4 years. It was she that came back to me.
There's no garantee, of course, that that will be the case for you. But all things are possible.
Its they who dont have the time ( the end is so close and all that). We do have the time to wait. Be patient with him.
In the meantime, you'll find a hearing ear at jwn, 24 hours a day.

my wife was informed by her father that an old jw friend had died so she decided to text his daughter ( who lives abroad & is disfellowshipped ) her condolences.
immediately the daughter phoned my wife in great anguish as she hadnt been informed that her father had died ( bearing in mind this event had happened 3 days previously.
) of course any chance that she might have had for coming over for the funeral had past.. her two brothers are elders and her sister is a regular pioneer but not one of them had thought to let their sister know.
Just wondering:
is there an inheritance involved?
